Motivation and learning reinforce each other. In this workshop, teachers discover the ingredients that fuel student effort and persistence, and the classroom practices that deeply connect students with PK-12 learning.
Together we explore intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, self-determination theory, and/or growth mindset. Building on this research-informed background, we explore specific classroom strategies that
- increase autonomy within appropriate guardrails,
- build competence through well-scaffolded challenge, and
- strengthen belonging with powerful relational routines.
Teachers leave with techniques improve participation, persistence, and the quality of student thinking.
