Motivation

Few topics cause greater concern in post-Covid
classrooms than students’ lack of motivation. This
workshop introduces several research-based motivational
frameworks that can inform and shape classroom practice.
By understanding everything from “self-determination
theory” and “biologically primary learning” to “mindset,”
teachers can find fresh approaches to enduring motivation
problems.

Teachers will learn:

  • The core distinction between “biologically primary” and “biologically secondary” learning

  • How to foster motivation by enhancing students’ autonomy, relatedness, and competence

  • Research-based growth mindset strategies that go beyond posters and slogans
