Long - Term Memory

Teachers speak of “learning”; memory researchers talk of
“encoding, consolidation, and retrieval.” When we explore the
specific teaching strategies that align with these three mental
processes – when we understand the benefits and trade-offs
of “desirable difficulties” – we really can help our students
study less yet learn more.

Teachers will learn:

  • Three essential phases of long-term memory creation

  • Teaching strategies – especially “desirable difficulties” – that promote all three

  • Techniques to overcome prior misconceptions

Flexibility:

Translate the Brain’s workshops can be tailored to your school's specific needs, curriculum, and schedule. They can be offered singly or in any combination. Each one could be as short as 90 minutes, or as long as four hours.
